Trust and Estates:
Since 1982, William C. Stalions has represented clients in a variety of trusts and estates matters, including probate, gifts, estate planning, trust administration, intestacy matters, and will contests. The law of trusts and estates primarily involves the management of personal affairs and the disposition of a person's property after he or she has died or become incapacitated. A "trust" is a legal concept whereby a grantor transfers legal ownership of property to a trustee. Trust assets typically are managed for the benefit of one or more beneficiaries. An estate generally consists of the property that a person bequeaths to his or heirs after his/her death, which usually involves a testamentary instrument such as a will.
Stalions Law is committed to providing a personalized approach in developing a client's estate plan. Trust administration is concerned with the administration and transfer of assets according to the directions set forth in a trust agreement. At Stalions Law I work with clients to evaluate discretionary issues on distribution of the trust assets, and to ensure that the assets of the trust are distributed accordingly.
Estate planning is executed with legal documents such as wills and trusts, and can be simple or complex, depending on the distribution scheme. It is advisable to seek the advice and counsel of a competent trust and estates attorney when contemplating the creation of an estate plan. A comprehensive estate plan is vital and beneficial to a client's overall financial plan, and it can reduce tax consequences and provide clear guidance to avoid any family disputes and prolonged probate court battles. If you have an estate or trust related question, contact Stalions Law today to schedule an initial consultation.
